AMICO
A modern take on the classic stovetop brewer, designed to solve everyday coffee hassles with functional features like a drip-free spout, detachable parts, and temperature control. Named Amico, Italian for "friend", symbolizing the user's trusted coffee companion, blending ergonomics with user-friendly design.
Identifying the Problem
The Moka Pot presents several usability and safety issues, from the handle and body becoming too hot to touch, heat escaping, and the lid opening unexpectedly, to difficulties in knowing when the coffee is ready, which often leads to touching hot surfaces. Detaching the top and bottom parts or removing the filter for cleaning is inconvenient, especially when the pot is still hot. These factors collectively hinder comfort, safety, and overall ease of use.

Features
Amico features key components designed to enhance usability and convenience. At its core is the innovative dual handle system, which allows the top and bottom chambers to detach easily with a simple pull-up to unlock and push-down to lock mechanism. This also improves grip and maneuverability, making it easier to move the pot between stations and during cleaning. Inside the bottom chamber, a silicone ledge acts as a clear water measurement indicator, ensuring accurate and effortless preparation.
The filter includes a silicone ledge that functions as both a coffee fill marker and a convenient pull tab for easy removal and emptying. To reduce the risk of spills, the lid is equipped with a stopper that keeps it securely in place while brewing. A seamless, spill-free spout ensures clean pouring, while the transparent upper chamber allows real-time visibility of the brewing process, offering an

User Journey
The user journey illustrates the process of using Amico, highlighting its easy-to-use and intuitive design that makes brewing seamless, enjoyable, and safe. The experience is further enhanced by the Amico product family, designed to complement the brewing process with stylish and functional serving solutions.
Prototype
A 1:1 ratio prototype for two cups of coffee was created to explore the ergonomics, scale, and usability of the Amico. The prototype was constructed using laser-cut components and hand-built foam elements to represent the balance between form and function.
